Council approves $800 monthly stipend and immediate appointment of Clerk/Treasurer

The Cook City Council voted Jan. 28 to grant Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Dawn Kehoe an $800 monthly stipend for interim responsibilities and to appoint her to the Clerk/Treasurer position effective immediately.
Shaun Hainey, representing Community and Economic Development Associates, recommended the stipend, noting Ms. Kehoe “has kept City Hall going since November when the Administrator-Clerk/Treasurer position became vacant.” Councilor Liza Root moved the stipend motion, seconded by Councilor Jess Scofield. The minutes record the roll call for that motion as Mayor Daniel Manick: yea; Councilor Root: yea; Councilor Scofield: yea; Councilor Bixby: yea; Councilor Bushbaum: nay. The motion carried.
On the appointment, a motion by Councilor Scofield, seconded by Councilor Root, approved moving Ms. Kehoe to the Clerk/Treasurer title effective immediately. The minutes record the motion as carried.
The Personnel Committee is also meeting to evaluate on-call pay and meeting attendance pay for employees, and committee members will meet individually with staff to compare new job descriptions to previous ones, the minutes say.
