Commission schedules Veterans Resource Fair and America 250 activities, requests volunteers

The Commission’s Strategic Plan workgroup will survey non‑VSO organizations to update a community Resource Guide by June and is considering a culminating community event in September.
Commission members described several specific volunteer needs: Post 55’s March 7 Sharing Table will provide carry‑out dinners and groceries for up to 350 people, and the post requested 35–39 cooked dishes and volunteers for kitchen prep and service from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with drive‑through distribution from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; a VA Claims Clinic is set for May 14 at the Edgewood Recreation Center and requires volunteer setup on May 13. Colonel Troy Johnson said he is working to include Commission events in the APG “My Army Post App” and listed several APG‑hosted activities that may be of interest to veterans.
No formal county funding commitments or votes on these events were recorded at the meeting; the items were discussed for planning and volunteer coordination.
