The Board passed Resolution 26-20 to authorize disbursements to local grantees as budgeted for FY2027. The resolution lists recipients and amounts that include HACAP ($120,000), Washington Public Library ($141,075), Paws & More ($32,954) and several other community organizations for a total listed of $444,402. Resolution 26-21 authorized monthly payments to Wemiga Waste Inc. totaling $13,832.00 annually as budgeted.
The Board also approved a series of interfund transfer resolutions. Resolution 26-22 designated $124,858 in beginning cash as assigned capital, including $38,608 for an ambulance purchase and $50,000 for ambulance building renovation. Resolution 26-23 authorized periodic transfers from the General Basic and Rural Services Basic funds to the Secondary Road Fund in accordance with Section 331.432, Code of Iowa. Resolution 26-24 authorized transfers from the General Basic Fund to the Capital Projects Ambulance Fund up to the budgeted maximum, and Resolution 26-25 authorized quarterly transfers from the Rural Basic Fund to the General Basic Fund to reimburse expenses for Uniformed Patrol Services (budgeted up to $405,000).
Resolution 26-26 sets department appropriation authorizations for FY2027 and lists a total authorization of $40,169,331 with line items including Secondary Roads ($9,229,565) and Ambulance Services ($4,198,490).
The Board also acknowledged the County Engineer's first-quarter report, which included road maintenance summaries and a stated snow-removal expense of $380,783.25, and approved Iowa Department of Transportation Funding Agreement No. 5-26-CHBP-015 for a bridge replacement project on Orange Avenue north of G36.
On personnel matters the Board approved a personnel change request from the Washington County Jail noting that Shaianne Nielsen ended employment effective June 1, 2026, and acknowledged and approved FY2027 employee compensation recommendations and scheduled step increases.
