School board approves multiple change orders and awards HVAC bid funded by 2022 capital bond

The board accepted Change Order 1 for the Fifth Ward Academy Building (Central Office) HVAC Improvements Project for an increase of $17,960.53 and seven additional calendar days, as recommended by Lachin Architects, apc. That motion was made by Sherry DeFrancesch, seconded by Samuel Mamou, and carried with the recorded vote showing one member voting no (Albert "Ali" Burl III noted no on this item).
The board accepted a substantial completion certificate for the LaPlace Elementary School new gym, as recommended by Yeates Mancil Architects, LLC, on a motion by Shawn Wallace and second by Sherry DeFrancesch.
A request from Volkert to accept Change Order 1 for the John L. Ory Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Improvements Project for $293,782.32 and 112 additional calendar days was approved on a motion by Sherry DeFrancesch and seconded by Lindsey Vicknair; Albert "Ali" Burl III recorded an abstention on that vote.
The board approved Change Order 5 for the West St. John High School New Fieldhouse Project for $28,261 and 15 additional calendar days, and Change Order 2 for West St. John High School locker room and restroom improvements for $68,101 with no additional days; votes and abstentions are recorded in the minutes.
Separately, the board accepted the lowest responsive bid for the East St. John High School Building 400 HVAC Renovation Project from Industrial and Mechanical Contractors, Inc. for $308,900 and authorized the superintendent to sign all necessary documents.
The board also accepted the substantial completion certificate for the West St. John High school security and lighting project as recommended by N-Y Associates, Inc.
All capital project approvals were recorded as funds to be derived from the 2022 Capital Improvement Bond. The minutes list motions, movers, seconders and individual votes; the board took no further public action on design changes or project schedules beyond recording the change orders and certificate acceptances.
