Two applicants for current vacancies, Kristen Anthony and Amy Saxton, introduced themselves and said they want to serve on the commission; Councilor Roose said he would inform the Ely City Council that both appeared to be good fits and noted applications remain open.
Administrator Kochendorfer recommended canceling the December meeting because of the holiday season and low anticipated agenda items unless a conditional use, rezoning, or variance application is submitted. Commissioner Hernesmaa moved to cancel the December meeting under those conditions, Commissioner Heil seconded, and the motion carried.
Kochendorfer also reported he had met with the owners of KJ’s Hardware, who communicated a plan and intend to file administrative paperwork for a driveway/driveway‑access proposal; staff recommended removing the KJ’s Hardware item from old business pending that administrative submission. The commission recorded brief updates that there was no new discussion on the IUP process, permissible uses list (work to continue with the City Attorney) or the fence ordinance.
