Salem supervisors approve application for gaming-act funds to study multiple waterline extensions

Salem Township supervisors voted Nov. 20 to seek Commonwealth grant funding for several proposed waterline extensions, authorizing Resolution No. 29-2024 and instructing staff to complete application materials for the Pennsylvania Race Horse and Gaming Act grant program.
Supervisor Kerry Jobe said the township has received repeated resident requests for waterline extensions and that five locations are under consideration: Kennan, Tucker, Hornock, Kaufman, and Tower & Apple Lane. He told residents the projects vary in scale and estimated each could cost between roughly $346,000 and $731,000, and cautioned that the township may not receive funding for every proposal.
The board approved a motion to designate an agent to submit pro forma grant documents and to finalize which project(s) to pursue based on merit. Jobe asked residents who experience water problems to email the township so staff can add locations to the priority list.
The motion passed unanimously. Next steps include preparing full applications and waiting for Commonwealth Funding Agency review and award decisions.
