At a special meeting Sept. 24, 2024, the Salem Township Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to approve Resolution 26-2024 authorizing a grant application to the Commonwealth Funding Agency for a Category 4 Facilities Local Share Assessment grant to fund maintenance equipment for Seanor Park.
The resolution, moved by Ken Trumbetta and seconded by Kerry Jobe, instructs township officials to submit pro forma documents and designates an agent to act on the township's behalf in matters related to the grant. Board members discussed vendor quotes for a 24-by-28-foot shed versus a 40-by-40-foot shed and options for two mowers with differing deck sizes; they chose to request the larger shed and the larger mower in the grant application, for a total requested amount of $78,690.28. The board noted that if the award is smaller than requested the township would commit the balance from Act 13 funds or other local sources.
The vote was recorded as Bob Zundel, Ken Trumbetta and Kerry Jobe in favor; the motion passed unanimously. No abstentions or negative votes were recorded.
The motion and discussion clarified the township's intended equipment purchases (a 40x40 shed and a larger mower) and the funding contingency should the grant award be reduced. The resolution also directs execution and submission of required pro forma paperwork to the Commonwealth Funding Agency.
The board adjourned at 11:17 a.m. after a motion by Kerry Jobe, seconded by Ken Trumbetta. The next regular supervisor meeting is scheduled for Oct. 16, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Salem Township Municipal Building.
