Salem supervisors approve $123,005 in monthly expenditures, renew benefits and make appointments

Salem Township supervisors on Aug. 21 approved $123,005.08 in monthly expenditures, renewed a benefits administration agreement and took steps to fill staff and board vacancies.
Supervisor Kerry Jobe moved and Supervisor Ken Trumbetta seconded approval of the expenditures, which the supervisors recorded as: General Fund $42,223.82; Payroll Fund $46,790.93; Liquid Fuels $10,893.32; Street Lights $394.86; Machinery $1,141.48; Park Initiative $1,978.00; and Sewer Revenue $19,582.67. The motion passed unanimously with Supervisor Bob Zundel joining Trumbetta and Jobe in the vote.
The board also approved renewal of the township's agreement with PrimePay to administer reimbursements under the Township Employees' HRA account. Supervisor Kerry Jobe said the contract will renew Nov. 1, 2024, at $69.96 per month.
In personnel actions, the board voted to advertise for a Salem Township road crew position and to appoint Tim Kozinko to the Recreation Board. Recreation Board President Kathy Hamilton recommended Kozinko, saying he serves as vice president of the Delmont Area Athletic Association, coaches youth baseball, volunteers with the Forbes Road Volunteer Fire Department and has completed required clearances. Supervisors said the Recreation and Parks ordinance will be amended so all seven recreation board members will be appointed by the Board of Supervisors rather than split with the Greensburg-Salem School District.
The minutes show votes on several planning modules and other routine resolutions passed unanimously; the board recorded the motions and outcomes in the meeting minutes.
The meeting opened at 7:00 p.m. and adjourned at 8:30 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Sept. 18, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Salem Township Municipal Building.
