Humboldt CCP notes CalAIM manager start date and local staffing, data updates

EUREKA, Calif. — At its June 17 meeting the Humboldt County Community Corrections Partnership executive committee heard several operational updates related to CalAIM implementation and local service staffing.
Chief Probation Officer Coral Sanders said the new CalAIM Program Manager is scheduled to start July 6 and reported she has asked Human Resources about running a single recruitment that would attach Program Coordinator positions to both Probation and the jail. The approach is aimed at creating coordinated staffing across sites that will support CalAIM services.
In the roundtable, Paul Bugnacki of the Department of Health and Human Services said one senior substance abuse counselor at the CCRC is on leave; DHHS is actively recruiting for a clinician, a case manager and an additional substance abuse counselor. Bugnacki said medication support at the CCRC is proceeding well and that a nurse is in the office part-time during the week.
Duane Christian of the Humboldt Detention and Sheriff’s Office told the committee that WellPath, the county’s jail medical provider, can provide broader jail-population data (not limited to AB109 clients) and that the office will email monthly population data to Probation for inclusion in CCP reporting. Christian also said the sheriff’s office is hiring to fill 12 vacant correctional officer positions.
Committee members discussed the possibility that an increase in pre-trial clients could affect the number of people eligible for CalAIM services; no formal action was taken. The CCP canceled its July meeting for low expected attendance and set its next meeting for Aug. 19, when Public Works will present financials for the proposed Day Reporting Center at 605 K Street.
