The West Bridgewater School Committee voted April 6 to approve a student trip to Japan for summer 2027 after a presentation from Stephanie Kolos, an eighth-grade Spanish teacher at the Middle Senior High School.
Kolos described the trip itinerary (Tokyo, Mount Fuji, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka) and the trip operator ACIS, noting the package is all-inclusive with roundtrip airfare, hotels, meals, tours and travel insurance. She said the program emphasizes student safety and close supervision by tour guides and chaperones: "My top priority is just their safety really, honestly," Kolos told the committee.
Kolos estimated the price at about $6,000 per student, said she would limit the group to roughly 12–15 students with two chaperones, and described payment-plan and fundraising options. The committee moved to approve the trip, seconded, and approved by voice vote.
The committee asked staff to publish trip sign-ups, payment schedules and parent communications once details are finalized. The superintendent and staff will oversee final vendor contracts and ensure required permissions and insurance are in place before departures.
