Aurelia council approves soil-boring bid for new water tower; downtown lighting project receives Legacy grant

The Aurelia City Council on March 23 voted to advance planning on a new water tower and well by accepting a soil-boring bid and heard an update on a downtown lighting project supported by a Legacy grant.
Brooke Sievers of ISG presented three bids for soil borings as part of the water tower and well project. Council Member Fassler moved to approve Certified Testing Services' bid of $6,700 for the soil-boring work; Bruce seconded and the motion passed with all members present voting aye.
Diane Weathers told the council that Aurelia Economic Development received a Legacy grant of $3,000 to help fund lighting for remaining downtown Main Street buildings and the new fire station; she said the project expects to use donations and additional grants to cover the rest of the cost.
These actions move the water infrastructure project toward site investigation and keep the downtown lighting project in a planning/funding stage pending additional contributions.
