Aurelia council adopts second FY26 budget amendment, approves loan disbursement and contractor payment

The Aurelia City Council on March 23 adopted Resolution 25-19 approving the city's second amendment to the FY26 budget following a public hearing and a series of routine approvals.
During the hearing, City officials reviewed February financials and bills payable. Council Member Nelson moved to open the public hearing on the 2nd FY26 budget amendment; the motion carried. Michael Pertzborn discussed the city's insurance outlook and said, "Insurance will be up approximately 12.75%." The council approved renewal of city insurance with Stille, Pierce & Pertzborn for FY26/27 on a motion by Bruce, seconded by Bleil; all members present voted aye.
Council action on spending and finance included a Nelson motion, seconded by Fassler, to approve a State Revolving Fund (SRF) planning and design loan disbursement of $48,403; the motion passed with all members voting yes. The council also approved Haselhoff Construction payment application #7 in the amount of $82,432.24 (Nelson moved; Johnson seconded; unanimous).
Other routine administrative items included approval of the consent agenda (motion by Bruce, second Bleil; roll-call ayes: Bruce, Johnson, Fassler, Nelson, Bleil), designation of city check signers (Mayor Roman Redig, Cindy Nelson, Sue Johnson, Steph McSparran, Cindy Kai) and a motion by Nelson, second Bruce, to keep pool pricing at current rates for the 2026 season; those motions passed unanimously.
The council closed the public hearing (Nelson motion; Johnson second) and then approved Resolution 25-19, "Resolution Approving the City of Aurelia's 2nd Budget Amendment of the FY26 Budget," on a motion by Fassler, seconded by Bruce; all members voted aye and the resolution was adopted.
The meeting record shows February revenues of $81,146.92 and disbursements of $96,895.09; the bills payable batch presented included vendor items totaling $34,128.52. The council adjourned at 8:01 p.m.
