The Kingston 300th Committee confirmed key dates and began logistics planning for summer and fall commemorations at its March 18 meeting.
John Bartlett said the committee will hold a 300th proclamation at 1 p.m. on June 27, 2026, marking the anniversary of the town's first meeting. Committee members discussed expanding the proclamation into a festival and asked Janna to contact the library and the press secretary about inviting Kathy LaNatra and possibly the governor or lieutenant governor.
The committee set the parade for July 25, 2026. John Bartlett described a route that would start at KES and end at the Town House; the route requires Board of Selectmen approval and a formal letter to the Department of Transportation. The Kingston Police Department Honor Guard is confirmed to participate; the Kingston Fire Department is working to secure a corresponding honor guard. The group discussed float entries and suggested a voluntary $25 donation for participants.
Olde Home Day was noted for Sept. 19, 2026, and members discussed a request for proposals for a fireworks display (40,000 shots mentioned as the RFP scope). The Historic House and Cemetery Tour and Scavenger Hunt are set for Oct. 10, 2026; Pine Dubois and the Bancrofts will meet with Chris on March 21 and a Bradford House garden survey is scheduled for the same day. Committee estimates indicate about 10 locations and roughly 60 docent shifts of 2'4 hours each will be needed; volunteer sign-ups and shift scheduling are outstanding tasks.
The meeting concluded with operational items (marketing, vendor bills) and a reminder that the next meeting is April 1, 2026.
