Akron council approves monthly bills, schedules planning work and community cleanup and Fun Day

Council member T. Nusz moved to approve bills, obligations and payroll totaling $34,933.01; J. Carr seconded the motion and it passed 4-0. Clerk and Treasurer Charlynn Wilson presented the monthly financial report and reported that a certificate of deposit at Northstar Bank was renewed at a higher rate for a 90-day term.
President R. Huizar asked the Planning Committee to present a five-year plan and to pursue a new Master Plan. She also announced a prisoner cleanup day the village arranged with the Tuscola County Sheriff's Office for May 14–15. Fun Day at the park is scheduled for June 25 from 5 to 8 p.m.; Parks maintenance work this season has included repairs to the drinking fountain and ball-diamond maintenance, Public Works employee S. Bills said.
During public comment, resident J. Blankenship asked the council to keep a spreadsheet of tabled items so issues do not get overlooked; the council agreed to attempt better tracking. Unfinished business included continued exploration of park security cameras and a proposed two-year plan for a new well. The meeting adjourned at 7:23 p.m. on a motion by M. Strasz, seconded by T. Nusz.
