Resident questions trailer ordinances; dispute over claimed street encroachment turns heated

During the public-comment portions of the May 20 Village of Akron council meeting, residents raised questions about local zoning and an allegation of encroachment on a village street.
An unnamed resident asked whether an ordinance allows moving a trailer house onto the property of a vacant house for renovation while he sells his current home, and raised broader concern about people living in campers throughout town. The resident said he had spoken with the zoning administrator and quoted the administrator as replying, "BEAUTIFUL." Council Member R. Huizar said she would consult the zoning administrator and check the ordinance and report back.
Later in public comment Alvin Vollmar said he had planted grass seed and blocked part of Lynn Street north of the Ironhorse bar, saying he had been told M. Hasso would no longer maintain that portion of the street. Vollmar said he obtained a lifetime lease from the railroad for an easement at that location to place campers and tents during Labor Day festivities. Council Member R. Huizar told him he must provide documentation proving any lease or ownership; when the exchange became heated she ended the public-comment period.
A separate resident asked whether fire and police personnel would volunteer after Labor Day to help clean up. The meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
The council recorded the request for ordinance clarification and asked staff to follow up; no ordinance changes or enforcement actions were voted on at the meeting.
