Committee approves Woodruff hotel and employee housing permit with added berm/fence condition
Summary

The Oneida County Planning and Development Committee on May 27 approved a conditional use permit for a hotel and employee housing proposed by applicant Jayjeet Govardhan (Laxmi Holdings LLC) on Lot 2, CSM 5689 in the Town of Woodruff.
Planning staff presented the application, read the public-notice record and summarized correspondence from the Town of Woodruff. Staff recommended approval subject to multiple conditions addressing permits, parking and stormwater controls, Oneida County Health Department approvals and site layout. Staff listed an allowed mean height for the hotel building of 44 feet, 6¾ inches and identified requirements for recorded easements for parking, stormwater retention ponds, private roads and utilities if the parcel is subdivided.
During the public portion of the hearing Richard Smith spoke. The committee and staff conferred with the applicant about fence and landscaping concerns raised during public comment and added Condition #12: “Berm with topsoil and landscaping vegetation as best as possible or placement of fence along the west boundary line beginning at the south end of the retention pond to the end of the southerly parking area.” The committee approved the CUP with the staff’s eleven recommendations plus the added Condition #12 on a motion by Billy Fried, second by Bob Almekinder; all members present voted to approve.
The conditions include obtaining required town, county and state permits (including WDNR stormwater/erosion and waterway protection permits) and providing copies of issued permits to the department; complying with Oneida County Health Department requirements; and implementing the specified berming/landscaping or fence along the western boundary as added by the committee.
