Committee forwards rezone petition and two ordinance amendments for further review

RHINELANDER, Wis. — The Oneida County Planning and Development Committee on June 10 voted to advance several zoning and ordinance matters for further public review.
The committee approved forwarding Rezone Petition #01-2026, submitted by Joshua and Jacy Przekurat, to the Oneida County Board for consideration. Staff read town correspondence and Department of Natural Resources comments into the record; Bob Mott spoke during public comment. Committee members said they reviewed DNR findings regarding a driveway and a structure and, after conferring with the property owners and staff, voted to forward the petition to the County Board (motion by Billy Fried, second by Bob Almekinder; unanimous Aye).
The committee also reviewed proposed language to amend Chapter 9, Article 5, Section 9.57 of the Oneida County Zoning and Shoreland Protection Ordinance to impose a moratorium on data centers. Corporation Counsel and Planning staff discussed edits, the committee asked for specific corrections, approved the draft as corrected and voted to forward the ordinance to a public hearing. Committee members requested staff research whether the proposed changes could be applied countywide to all towns.
Separately, the committee voted to forward Ordinance Amendment #09-2025 (amendments to Chapter 9, Article 10 — Definitions) to the County Board for consideration (motion by Billy Fried, second by Bob Almekinder; unanimous Aye).
