Committee approves R&R Rentals' boat rental and retail permit in Minocqua

Karl Jennrich, planning and zoning director, described the notice and mailing procedures and read correspondence from the Town of Minocqua into the record. Scott Ridderbusch summarized the staff report and recommended six conditions, including that signage comply with county sign rules, that lighting be downcast and shielded, that dumpsters be screened and that staging and display boats be placed only in designated areas. Staff also required adherence to county parking regulations and specified a minimum of 19 parking spaces.
Karen Schmeling spoke during the public portion of the hearing; the record does not contain her full remarks. After discussion the committee voted to approve the permit on a motion by Billy Fried, seconded by Michael Tautges. With all members present voting “Aye,” the motion carried.
The permit is conditioned on meeting the listed requirements, including parking, signage and site-placement restrictions; any required town or state permits must be obtained before construction or operation proceeds.
