District staff presented a monthly financial report on March 16 showing the district is tracking better than earlier projections, with presenters attributing improvement to expenditure controls and budget‑reduction measures enacted earlier this year.
The presenter (speaker 5) summarized revenues and expenditures year‑to‑date, noting state foundation aid and a significant property‑tax receipt expected in March that historically increases revenue. The speaker said, under current assumptions and before the audit is finalized, the district projects a modest net year‑end surplus in FY26 (staff cited an illustrative figure near $240,000–$248,000) and noted the district had previously shown a larger net loss in 2025 of about $1.2 million.
Separately, the board approved the fee schedule for 2026–27: no change to student lunch/breakfast fees pending state adult price guidance, a consolidated registration/book fee of $90 for K–12, modest changes to activity passes and yearbook pricing, and adjustments to how tech fees are handled within the registration system. The board also approved three salary schedules for 2026–27 (associates, certified and extracurricular), including a reported negotiated increase that adds $8.15 to the teacher base and a $15 hourly minimum for associates.
Administrators said some FY26 figures remain preliminary until the audit is complete and that the district will continue to monitor tuition, transportation and federal revenue lines. The board approved the consent agenda and the specific fee and salary schedule items as presented.
Ending note: staff said they will update the JMC registration system with approved fees and publish final figures after required state determinations are made.
