Council President Jim Gillett reported during old business that OHM and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) remain in talks with Pellston Public Schools about using district property on Robinson Road for a municipal well site. Gillett said the University of Michigan returned multiple questions about using its property and that he doubts the university will permit access for a well.
Gillett added that, given the property responses and negotiations, the municipal water tower for the system will most likely be located behind the Boy Scout building on Milton Street. The minutes record these as planning-stage discussions; no site approvals, funding commitments or formal votes were taken at the meeting.
Separately, the planning commission discussed a proposed cell tower at Pioneer Park, but the minutes do not record a decision or timeline. DPW Supervisor Art Massey reported that wedging work on Zipf Street should be completed by the end of the month. The council recorded no formal planning approvals at this session.
