Pellston council votes to finance plow truck, approves $109,537.96 in bills

The Village of Pellston voted Aug. 14 to finance a new plow truck and approved general expenditures totaling $109,537.96.
President Jim Gillett outlined the planned plow-truck purchase and outfitting costs: $140,000 for the truck and $133,000 for outfitting. He said the village expects $50,000 from county ARPA funds, contributions from local and major-street funds, $10,000 from the DDA, and that $173,000 plus about $8,000 in bond fees would be financed. Jane Ann Rose moved, Steve Hall seconded to finance the truck for 15 years with approximate annual payments of $12,000; the motion passed unanimously.
On routine finance business, Jane Ann Rose moved, Kayla Schlappi seconded to approve bills totaling $109,537.96; the motion carried unanimously. The council also approved renewal of the Mackinaw Area Public Library annual contract for $2,852.73.
No policy changes or additional revenue measures were approved at the meeting; financing terms and exact repayment schedules will be finalized by staff and the village’s financing partner.
