Fire chief reports rise in EMS runs; council hears maintenance and recreation updates

Fire Chief Randy Bricker told the Village Council that EMS runs and incident calls have increased and that the department's training hours have risen to meet demand.
Bricker credited two members of Emmet County Search & Rescue with rescuing a person from near-drowning on Pickerel Lake and told the council that interior repairs at the Fire Hall continue.
Bricker also said the biggest operational issue for public works is keeping cars off the road to allow snowplow operations. In Planning and Zoning business he noted the Planning Commission approved the lot splits presented to Council and that Lindsey Dotson from Housing North attended the Planning Commission meeting.
President Jim Gillett said North Emmet Little League will use the Village Hall for monthly meetings and the council discussed the possibility of a community sledding party in February. DPW Supervisor Art Massey reported that holiday decorations have been removed and that electrical upgrades will be needed at Memorial Park. Mrs. O'Neil said the Village website remains a work in progress and needs DDA and Planning Commission minutes for posting.
The meeting closed with a motion by Steve Hall, seconded by Jackie Pierce, to adjourn at 7:48 p.m.; the minutes record a unanimous vote (Yay 6, Nay 0).
