Pellston council flags Boy Scouts Troop #2 assets in escrow, refers lock-change concern to attorney

At the Jan. 14 meeting President Jim Gillett told the Village Council that Pellston Boy Scouts Troop #2 has placed funds into an escrow account while an inventory of equipment is completed.
Gillett said local troop leaders want remaining resources to revert to the Village for children's activities or to be used at Pioneer Park, but he said the Boy Scouts district council will determine where the assets will go until a new troop is reorganized.
Gillett also said DPW Supervisor Art Massey changed the locks on a Village-owned building; Gillett said he has forwarded his concerns about the locks and the troop property to the Village attorney for review. The minutes do not record any public comment on the matter.
The council did not take a final local disposition at the Jan. 14 meeting; according to the minutes the district council will make the initial determination on the troop assets while the Village seeks legal guidance about the lock change and related property concerns.
