Among the contract approvals were two agreements with the Ames Regional Economic Alliance ("The Alliance"): a $110,000 contract for economic-development planning consulting services and a $40,000 contract for workforce-development consulting, both effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. The board also approved a Ziegler, Inc. service agreement for the county administration building generator and transfer switch at $9,168.01 per year and renewal of an Iowa Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) with Youth and Shelter Services for $43,487 to cover a Youth Employment Recovery Coordinator salary for FY27.
The consent package included two permanent-easement purchases related to a Competitive Highway Bridge Program (CHBP) project (project No. BROSCHBP-C085(189)--GA-85): a $743.69 easement from Risdal Enterprises LP and an $808.78 easement from Risdal Farms Inc., and the Iowa DOT Federal-aid agreement for the CHBP project. The board also approved routine items such as Road Closure #26-23, Utility Permit #26-9088, appointments (including Douglas Sargent to the Commission on Veterans Affairs and Jill Leonard as a nonresident trustee for Maxwell’s library), and resolutions setting public hearings on July 14 for two zoning-related ordinances.
Supervisor Latifah Faisal moved to approve the consent agenda; Supervisor Lisa Heddens seconded. Both motions noted in the record carried unanimously on roll-call votes.
