Ansonia Board approves student HBCU trip, confirms two middle-school hires and accepts expulsions recommendations

DiBacco also recommended two certified appointments for Ansonia Middle School: Diane Nadhazi as a Grade 7 special-education teacher and Rachel Erdos as a Grade 8 language-arts teacher. DiBacco said Nadhazi lives in Seymour and is leaving Bridgeport to join Ansonia; he described both hires as strong additions. The appointments were approved (tally recorded as five yes, zero no, zero abstain).
The Board then entered an executive session at 7:15 p.m. to discuss expulsions. After returning to open session, the Board moved to accept the superintendent’s recommendations regarding expulsions; the motion was recorded as approved with five yes votes, zero no, zero abstain.
Board President Rich Bshara opened the meeting at 6:35 p.m., led roll call and asked attendees to observe a moment of silence for Rubin Little, a middle-school teacher who recently passed away. There were no public comments during the public session.
Other routine business during the meeting included acceptance of the Oct. 9, 2024 regular meeting minutes and adoption of the 2025 Board meeting schedule; both motions were recorded with five yes votes and no opposition.
The Board adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
