At the Aug. 12 meeting, property owner John Perles requested the Pentwater Village Council consider a licensing agreement to allow placement of a bench on his property at 212 W. Lowell Street along the lot line. Perles said he would place the bench for public use as a resting point for pedestrians walking to the beach.
Councilmembers discussed the proposal and asked Perles to submit drawings and indicated they may schedule a site visit before acting on the request. No motion to approve or deny the licensing agreement was made during the meeting.
The licensing-agreement request was treated as an alternative to a zoning variance for the proposed new house and three-car garage Perles previously proposed; council indicated it needed more detailed plans to evaluate impacts along the lot line and public access implications. The council did not set a timeline for a decision; staff were asked to accept the drawings and coordinate any necessary site visit.
