Pentwater council approves bond intent, sewer credit and EPA grant application; schedules special meeting

The Pentwater Village Council met Aug. 12 at Park Place and unanimously approved a series of routine and policy actions, including a resolution expressing the village's intent to issue bonds, a $272 sewer credit for a homeowner, and authorization to apply for an EPA Community Assessment Grant.
President Jeff Hodges called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. and led the pledge of allegiance. After roll call, Councilmember Jared Griffis moved to approve the meeting agenda; Councilmember Dave Bluhm seconded and the motion passed by voice vote.
On financial business, Clerk/Treasurer Rande Listerman presented packet reports and Councilmember Don Palmer moved, seconded by Bluhm, to receive the August 2024 financials; the council approved the financials by roll-call vote 7–0.
Council then approved Resolution No. 2024-08-24, a declaration of intent to issue bonds and to reimburse certain expenditures. Councilmember Don Palmer moved the resolution; Councilmember Dave Bluhm seconded and the roll-call vote was 7–0.
The council also approved a sewer credit of $272.00 for Michelle Gamble-Schaefer at 84 S. Ellery Street on a motion by Councilmember Dave Bluhm with a second from Councilmember Phil Frame; the vote was 7–0.
Councilmember Kathy O'Connor moved, with Councilmember Dave Bluhm's support, to authorize staff to apply for an EPA Community Assessment Grant to fund an environmental study at 327 S. Hancock Street; council approved the application by roll-call vote 7–0.
On personnel scheduling, Councilmember Dan Nugent moved, seconded by Phil Frame, to set a special council meeting on Aug. 26 to review Village Manager applications and enter closed session for those reviews. The recorded motion text referenced Aug. 26 at 6:00 P.M., but the motion as adopted set the special meeting for Aug. 26 at 7:30 P.M.; the council approved the meeting date and closed-session purpose 7–0.
All formal votes recorded were unanimous. No ordinance adoptions or contested votes occurred during the session. President Hodges closed the meeting at 7:11 P.M.
