Sanford receives $58,228.66 dispensary distribution; council approves donations, bills and DPW repairs

Council approved a $500 donation to DARE from the liquor fund (motion by Marcus Thrush, second Don Whaley) and approved the corrected minutes from February 10 (motion by Marcus Thrush, second Carl Hamann). The council approved bills totaling $33,892.23 (motion by Carl Hamann, second Leah Ziems) and recorded the vote as unanimous in each instance.
The Department of Public Works reported routine equipment sales and repairs: a 30" Simplicity snowblower sold for $382, a John Deere zero for $310 and a three-point post-hole digger trade-in value was recorded at $890. The council approved replacing the intake manifold gaskets on a 1999 Ford F350 for $1,350 (motion by Carl Hamann, second Don Whaley; unanimous vote). DPW noted that blow-in fiberglass insulation in the shop was completed March 3 and received three bids for heating; staff were instructed to seek clarification from Airworks before awarding the heating contract.
Other operational items included adding chain-link fence posts to two tee-ball fields before May tournaments and setting spring cleanup for May 1
May 15 with a postcard reminder about Ordinance 32, which prohibits burning brush and yard waste inside the village.
