Amy Brosnan distributed the Park Maintenance Budget Request and presentation at the March 3 Board of Finance meeting and reviewed each slide. Board members asked questions about specific line items while the Parks Maintenance Director (unnamed) and employees Rick LaBonte and Matt Chace answered queries.
After a lengthy discussion about operations and costs, Heather Allen moved to accept the Park Maintenance budget for review and further discussion; Lance Metzger seconded the motion and it passed. The minutes record that Amy Brosnan will provide the prior year’s budget number to the Board Chair for a direct comparison.
Members discussed options including merging Park Maintenance with Public Works, cutting back some duties of the Park Maintenance Department, and outsourcing certain services. The minutes record discussion of these possibilities but do not show any formal decision to merge or to outsource.
The board did not record a public vote tally in the minutes for this motion. The item will return for follow-up as part of upcoming budget work.
