East Windsor recognizes staff Crystal Apple winners; students share recent activities

The East Windsor Board of Education recognized employees from each school with Crystal Apple awards and heard a student representative recap recent student activities.

An administrator described the Crystal Apple criteria—recognizing certified or non-certified staff who demonstrate student-centered practice, supportive relationships and a collaborative approach—and announced winners: Tyler Porcello (Broad Brook Elementary; unable to attend), Miss Sharp (Middle School behavior interventionist) and Stacy Corbin (high school main office). The administrator praised winners for their contributions and said awards from an absent nominator would be delivered to schools for faculty recognition.

The student representative reported that Broad Brook Elementary students helped paint a crosswalk under a town partnership, that safety lessons were provided by the local SRO and fire departments, and that middle- and high-school activities included student-council events and a Portrait of the Graduate recognition breakfast. The representative said students honored 31 veterans at a ceremony and that the cross-country team and other groups saw positive participation and results.

Board members congratulated the winners and the student body. Administrators asked winners to stay for a photo and noted an award from an outside partner would be delivered to schools for staff recognition during faculty meetings.

The board accepted the recognitions and moved on to routine business.
