Calhoun County Board orders administrative recount for June 2 primary in Rockwell City-area precincts

The Calhoun County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously June 4 to order an administrative recount of ballots cast in parts of the June 2 primary after County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Jena Patzner presented a formal request.
Patzner told the board she submitted a June 2, 2026 Primary Election Administrative Recount Request pursuant to Code of Iowa §50.50 and Iowa Administrative Code 721—21.25, asking that votes be recounted in the following precincts: 03 Center, Garfield, Twin Lakes N., Lake Creek N., Logan and Rockwell City. The board adopted Resolution 2026-18 to carry out the recount.
The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Supervisor Cory Ridgely and seconded by Supervisor Dave George. The board recorded a roll-call vote with votes in favor from Vice Chairman Dave George, Supervisor Cory Ridgely and Chairman Scott Jacobs; there were no votes against. The resolution was recorded as passed.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved the meeting agenda without changes by a motion from Ridgely, seconded by George. No members of the public spoke during the public comment period.
The board adjourned and set its next regular meeting for Tuesday, June 9 at 9:00 a.m.
