KANAB, Utah — Commissioners used the June 9 public meeting to share brief local updates and then moved into a closed session on litigation.
Chair Gwen Brown and Commissioners Celeste Meyeres and Patty Kubeja reported local activities and items of interest: renewal of the bookmobile contract; plans for remodeling at the Assessor's Office; two people filing to run for the Vermillion Cliffs Special Service District board; a countywide lack of childcare facilities and ongoing outreach to address it; planned discussions with Big Water regarding the Dinosaur Visitor Center; and a note that large vehicles are no longer allowed to enter Zion on the east side. Commissioner Kubeja also noted a successful PRCA rodeo and a successful audit. Brown and Kubeja reported a trip with Sheriff Tracy Glover to Bullfrog.
Later in the agenda Commissioner Meyeres moved the board into a closed session to discuss pending or reasonably imminent litigation; commissioners voted in favor and later returned to open session. Commissioner Brown moved to adjourn at 11:25 a.m.; the motion carried unanimously.
