Chrisney raises water pass-through by $0.48 per 1,000 gallons; chosen for county prescription drug take-back program

Kim reported that Pat Callahan, the town’s utility rate consultant, completed a water-cost tracker after the Town of Santa Claus raised its wholesale water rate. Acting on the consultant’s recommendation, the council approved increasing the town’s pass-through by $0.48 per 1,000 gallons (48 cents per 1,000) effective for the June 5, 2026 bill covering consumption dates April 22–May 22. Greg moved the motion and Mason seconded; the motion carried.
Kim also told the council that the Spencer County Commissioners authorized additional funding from the county Opioid Settlement Fund to expand prescription drug take-back boxes and selected Chrisney as one of the host locations. Kim cautioned residents not to put needles or other sharps, liquids, aerosol cans or thermometers in the drop boxes.
The council recorded the effective date for the rate change and the billing cycle it will affect; staff will implement the new rate on June billing and notify customers as required.
