The Village of Pigeon Council on March 9, 2026 approved a series of equipment purchases and personnel and budget actions during its regular meeting at the Municipal Building, officials said. President Michael LePage presided.
Council authorized Osentoski Equipment to repair the village’s GMC dump truck at a cost not to exceed $15,816.44 after a motion by Trustee Michael Wehner and a second by Trustee Kent Tibbits; the motion carried with all ayes. DPW Superintendent Thomas Buschlen presented the department’s monthly report earlier in the meeting.
The council approved the purchase of a 2015 Elgin Pelican street sweeper from MacQueen (formerly Bell Equipment) for $140,000. Trustee Michael Wehner moved the purchase, seconded by Trustee Matt Zimmerman. The council authorized financing from the General Fund to the Equipment Fund over seven years with an annual payment of $24,590.83 at 5.45 percent; the first payment is due Feb. 1, 2027 and the final payment Feb. 1, 2033. The motion carried with all ayes.
Trustees also approved a five-year lease/purchase of a John Deere Gator XUV 845M HVAV from Tri-County Equipment for $6,308.31 per year after a motion by Trustee Shelly Gunden and a second by Trustee Matt Zimmerman. The council voted unanimously to hire Nathan Drabek as a full-time Department of Public Works laborer effective April 6, 2026, following a motion by Trustee Matt Zimmerman and a second by Trustee Michael Wehner.
Council approved the purchase of two windows for the Recreation (Concession) Building at a total cost of $1,200 after a motion by Trustee Kent Tibbits and a second by Trustee Shelly Gunden.
Village Superintendent/Clerk Steven Corrion reviewed the 2025/26 amended budget. After discussion, the council adopted the amended budget on a motion by Trustee Michael Wehner, seconded by Trustee Kent Tibbits; the motion carried with all ayes.
Clerk Corrion emailed an Accounts Payable Report covering Feb. 26–March 9, 2026 that the transcript records as $20,996.44. After discussion, the council voted to accept an Accounts Payable Report recorded in the ledger as $21,945.40 ("See Accounts Payable Ledger"); the motion to accept the ledger amount was moved by Trustee Shelly Gunden and seconded by Trustee Matt Zimmerman and carried with all ayes. The transcript therefore records two different amounts for the accounts payable materials as presented to council.
President LePage announced that the City of Caseville will hold a special public meeting on March 23, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Caseville City Hall to review a proposed water infrastructure and treatment improvement project aimed at mitigating seasonal water discoloration; he encouraged council members to attend if available.
