Pierson Township adopts solar moratorium, rescinds Resolution 15-07 and approves Spark Grant resolution

The Pierson Township Board met on Jan. 16, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at 21156 W. Cannonsville Rd. Board member Burkholder moved to adopt Ordinance 2023-01, "Solar Moratorium Ordinance 2023-01," and Board member Bergman seconded. The motion passed on a roll call vote with four yes votes (Buyze, Bergman, Burkholder, Orcutt) and one abstention (Sower).
The board then considered Resolution 2023-01 to rescind Resolution 15-07. Board member Burkholder offered the resolution, Board member Orcutt seconded, and the board approved the measure unanimously by roll call (Buyze, Bergman, Burkholder, Orcutt, Sower).
The board also adopted Resolution 2023-02, the Spark Grant resolution. The resolution was offered by Board member Burkholder and seconded by Board member Sower; the board approved it unanimously by roll call (Buyze, Bergman, Burkholder, Orcutt, Sower).
Earlier in the meeting the board approved the consent agenda, which covered routine items including the Dec. 14, 2022 meeting minutes; warrants, checks and payroll for Dec. 13, 2022–Jan. 9, 2023; and payables. The consent agenda listed specific payments including Fresh Coast Planning (Inv. 1454) for $133.75, Bauckham, Thall, Seeber et al. (Inv. 1976/2802) for $326.17, and Miss Dig (Inv. 20230356) for $684.59 and was approved on a motion by Board member Burkholder, seconded by Board member Bergman, by unanimous roll call.
Open items and committee reports were noted: an assessor office furniture and zoning workspace plan/cost update, a Planning Committee meeting set for Jan. 25, 2023, Road Committee 2023 project targets, and Parks & Recreation fundraising and events updates. County Commissioner Ron Baker was listed as absent. The meeting adjourned at 7:28 p.m. on a motion by Board member Bergman, seconded by Board member Orcutt, approved by unanimous roll call.
