Three Oaks hears updates on Magnolia Street work, downtown tree plan and park repairs; trash-timing complaint raised

Manager Faulkner provided multiple project updates April 4 on streets, downtown and parks maintenance.
Faulkner said Magnolia Street work began on the west side at Indiana and crews are working north; several trees have been identified for removal and Dudiak Tree Service had begun removals. He asked Andrew Rudd to survey lots with no sidewalks to ensure sidewalks are not placed on private property. Faulkner also reported the DDA plans sidewalk replacement after Flag Day and that downtown businesses would be responsible for sidewalk repair unless DPW performs the work for an hourly charge.
On parks, Faulkner said Timber Town/Watkins Park needs staining, additional mulch and repairs to swing chains. Nathan Smith reported repairs to the 1995 backhoe — RAMs were replaced and the rear portion realigned.
Under streets, Rudd said a preconstruction meeting discussed detour routing for a bridge project and noted a minor right-of-way issue with Amtrak that staff hopes to postpone until after construction. On budgeting, Faulkner said budget requests are being accepted and Council will set a date next week for a budget meeting.
During public comment, resident Sherry Trucks complained that Reliable is dumping Journeyman’s dumpsters too early and that deliveries are arriving before 7:00 a.m. The committee adjourned at 10:16 a.m.; the next scheduled Public Service Committee meeting is May 2, 2025.
