Three Oaks expands lead-service-line outreach; village to cover homeowner repairs if lines found

Manager Faulkner and Council member Andrew Rudd outlined steps April 4 to expand outreach under a DWAM grant aimed at identifying lead service lines and encouraging interior inspections.
Rudd said the grant mailer was revised with stronger language and will be sent to an expanded customer list to increase sign-ups for in-home inspections. "There is zero cost to the homeowner if lead lines are found; it would be the responsibility of the Village to make those repairs," Rudd said.
The village will rely on in-house water and sewer staff to interrupt service when inspections occur, Faulkner said. Flint suggested recruiting volunteers from Rotary and using the village Alert system and social media; Faulkner said he would follow up. Nathan Smith agreed to contact his connections to seek assistance with installing a replacement drinking fountain at the Village office.
Water-system operator Matt Lindsey told the committee that bacteria samples taken to date have come back negative, and that the department is still awaiting an itemized quote for a chemical feed pump at the water plant. "We have not gotten an itemized quote for the chemical feed pump at the plant," Lindsey said; the committee discussed preparing for future needs even though current samples are satisfactory.
The committee did not take formal votes (there was no quorum). Rudd and Faulkner will follow up on outreach logistics and volunteer recruitment; the committee noted the next full Council meeting is April 9, when a draft agreement on related utilities items will be presented.
