Superintendent Nikki Nash presented the Policy Committee report and the district's bi-annual policy updates at the April 6, 2026, work session, and the board received first readings on multiple policies.
Nash noted that several policies were revised to conform with recent state legislation and that two policies were being rescinded because they were combined into a single policy. The minutes list the policies presented for first reading, including PO0100 (Definitions); PO1410 and PO4210 (Staff Ethics); PO2370.01 (Online/Blended Learning); PO2417 (Comprehensive School Health Education); PO2418 (Sex Education); renumbered/rescinded volunteer policies (PO3120.09/PO4120.09/PO8120.09); PO5136 (Wireless Communication Devices); PO6320 (Purchasing); PO6325 (Procurement - Federal Grants/Funds); PO8402 (Emergency Operations Plan); and PO8655 (Specialized Transportation for Students with IEPs).
Superintendent Nash also described scrivener corrections to Policies 1623, 2260.01, 3123 and 4123 that change the named District Coordinator to Melissa Frye, Special Education Director, because those policies relate to 504 plans and disabilities. The minutes state these are clerical changes that do not alter policy language and therefore require no board vote.
Board members asked questions during the presentation; the minutes do not record substantive objections or amendments at this meeting. The policies are recorded as first readings and will be subject to the board's regular review process and any required subsequent votes.
The board then returned to other agenda items and adjourned at 6:20 PM.
