Following a public hearing on Feb. 3, the City of Galesburg council adopted Chapter 48, an ordinance that includes provisions covering mobile food trucks and rules for parking and obstruction.
Mayor Linda Marble opened the hearing and reviewed Chapter 48 with council and citizens. A citizen asked about the ordinance’s treatment of mobile food trucks; Marble read the ordinance’s relevant section and Clerk Lisa McNees said that a vendor operating on private property with the property owner’s permission should be allowed, provided the truck does not block streets, driveways or MDOT rights of way.
Roger Frazee moved to close the public hearing and subsequently moved to approve Chapter 48; Anthony Tipken seconded the motion and the council adopted the ordinance unanimously on roll call.
The ordinance’s adoption follows the council’s standard public‑hearing process and includes the stated limits on operating locations and obstruction. The council did not record any votes against the ordinance.
