At the May 5 meeting, the Three Oaks PickleBall Club agreed to prepare the grant application for pickleball courts at Watkins Park and the Board discussed the need to begin the effort early because grant submission deadlines fall in the spring.
Chair Ira Johnson said he would notify the PickleBall Club and the village would coordinate the application work, with Village Manager Dan Faulkner taking a lead on logistics. Board member Joan Brown raised a separate item asking Faulkner to follow up on the status of a porta-potty surround previously approved for Watkins Park, similar to the facility installed in Dewey Cannon Park.
No formal motion or funding decision on the courts was recorded; the Board agreed coordination between the PickleBall Club, the Parks and Recreation Board and village staff is required before a formal application is submitted.
