Joan Brown moved to rescind the April 7 approval and to use the shrubs already purchased; Marlene Kramer supported the motion and it passed. Chair Ira Johnson said he will coordinate the volunteer planting effort and will work with Village Manager Dan Faulkner to arrange for Department of Public Works assistance to remove dead and dying grasses beforehand.
Board members discussed cost savings and aesthetics, noting the shrub option was estimated at about $100 versus $300 for concrete curbing. The decision replaces a previously authorized hard curb with plantings and directs Johnson to manage volunteer scheduling and DPW coordination.
The Board identified follow-up steps: Johnson will set volunteer dates, Faulkner will arrange the DPW lift assistance, and the planting will be scheduled before the annual parks walk-through.
