Committee urged to begin downtown tree, sidewalk work; bridge easement arrangement outlined

Committee members discussed a set of downtown and street items Feb. 7, including planned tree removal, sidewalk replacement priorities, parking-lot design limits and easement payments tied to a bridge project.
Faulkner said one tree at 104 N. Elm is scheduled to be removed or cut when weather permits. Faulkner also said an insurance claim has been submitted for damage to the outdoor patio at Patellis. Flint urged the village to begin sidewalk replacement work as soon as weather allows and recommended starting with the tree-removal at 104 N. Elm to determine the best approach.
Andrew Rudd told the committee that a study of the North Elm parking lot shows the current layout does not allow legal parking as laid out; Faulkner requested that Rudd explain the design limitations at the Feb. 12 Village Council meeting.
On the bridge project, Faulkner reported that AEP will need temporary easements to allow relocation of voltage lines prior to construction and will move lines back afterward or provide a permanent easement. The village will receive $3,850 for the temporary easements. The bridge is slated to run from June through October; Faulkner said the village is responsible for 5% of the total project cost and will present more information to council.
Other operational notes included a pavement-repair request near North Central (the library) and a DPW update that the Central Property (Wisner) survey is complete and a purchase agreement is ready with a walkthrough scheduled for Monday.
