River Ridge supervisors on Nov. 19 authorized terminating the landscape service agreement with Laz’s Lawn Service, Inc., citing poor performance, and engaged GulfScapes Landscape Maintenance Services at $58,500. The GulfScapes figure exceeds the $45,000 budgeted amount by about $13,000; board members discussed using unassigned funds and applying payments withheld from Laz’s Lawn to offset the additional cost.
Separately, District Engineer Charlie Krebs presented ancillary costs for the Seaside & Master Drainage Project and recommended change‑order work by Irrigation Concepts, including $4,002.50 to repair damaged wiring and about $1,300 each to raise seven to eight irrigation heads. The board approved an Irrigation Concepts change order not to exceed $15,000.
On motions by Kurt Blumenthal (seconded by Bob Schultz) the board authorized engaging GulfScapes and terminating the Laz’s Lawn contract effective immediately; the irrigation change order was approved on a separate motion by Mr. Blumenthal, seconded by Mr. Schultz, with all in favor.
