Pigeon Council adopts 2025–26 budget, levies unchanged 22.3000 millage

The Village of Pigeon Council on Feb. 10, 2025 approved the 2025–26 budget and voted to levy a total millage rate of 22.3000 to support the plan.

Village Superintendent and Clerk Steven Corrion presented the proposed budget and laid out the millage breakdown: General Fund 12.5000 mills, Historical 0.5000 mills, Local Streets 5.0000 mills, Water 1.5000 mills and Storm Sewer 2.8000 mills, for a combined total of 22.3000 mills — the same total levy as the prior year. The council closed the public hearing and voted to levy the mills with an all-aye vote following the presentation.

The adopted budget also sets elected and key official compensation and meeting pay. The council approved annual pay of $9,300 for the Village President, $5,000 for the Clerk, $1,800 for each Trustee, $4,000 for the Treasurer, and meeting attendance pay of $85 per meeting; those rates take effect March 1, 2025. President Michael LePage noted the budget does not include any increases to water and sewer rates, which will remain at last year’s levels.

The council’s action followed a public hearing at which Corrion reviewed proposed revenues and expenses for each village fund. The motion to levy the millage was made by Trustee Michael Wehner and seconded by Trustee Matt Zimmerman; the subsequent motion to adopt the budget was made by Trustee Marc Hill and seconded by Trustee Kent Shetler. Both motions carried with unanimous votes.

The approved levy and budget govern village revenues and spending for the fiscal year beginning 2025/26; no additional time-specific actions were scheduled during the meeting.
