Glen Arbor fire chief: engine sold for $10,000, server updated; tribal grant not awarded—boat electronics delayed

Fire Chief Ferguson told the Glen Arbor Township Board on Feb. 18 that the department responded to 38 calls in January, completed a computer server update and sold an engine for $10,000 that will be shipped to Chile.
"The Engine from Empire has been sold for $10,000 and will be shipped to the country of Chile," Chief Ferguson reported. He said the department will meet with a representative from Rep. Betsy Coffia’s office to discuss a state appropriations request the department plans to submit.
Chief Ferguson told the board the department did not receive the tribe’s 2% grant this cycle; as a result the new boat electronics will be purchased from next year’s budget. He said he expects to present the department’s 2024 Annual Report at next month’s meeting and anticipates having quotes for a building remodel then as well. Ferguson also noted he will attend a Fire Chief’s class in early March and be away for one week.
The board received written zoning-administrator and assessor reports contemporaneously; no public comment was offered during the operations report.
The Clerk and Chief noted planned follow-up actions: meet with a congressional-office representative about state appropriations and circulate the 2024 Annual Report and remodel quotes at the next meeting.
