The Columbia County Community Emergency Services Committee approved a consent agenda that included small-dollar donations, recreation and library contracts, and two memoranda of understanding.
Staff presented donations to Animal Services totaling $1,300 from three donors (Megan Williams $200; Cara Chase $1,000; Ann Danielson $100) and recommended acceptance. The committee approved the donations as part of consent.
The committee also approved an independent-contractor agreement to provide pickleball instruction for the county's in-house fundamentals program. Staff said the county would retain 100% of revenue for fundamentals, split 50/50 for additional summer programs, and allow instructors to keep revenue from private lessons; programs are planned mainly at Blanchard Park and the Patriots Park gym and staff said open courts will be maintained for pickup play.
A library services agreement with the Columbia County Library System was approved to cover services and reimbursements for salaries and grant-funded positions through the new fiscal year. Separately, the committee approved an annual MOU and financial agreement with UGA Cooperative Extension; staff reported the county reimbursement for personnel salary and benefits this year is $246,880.50 and that amount is reflected in the FY27 budget.
Fire and Emergency Services also brought forward a blood-services agreement with Shepherd Community Blood Center to allow crews to carry blood products such as plasma and platelets for traumatic and post-surgical bleeds in the field. Staff estimated the annual fiscal impact at about $8,000; the committee moved and approved the agreement on consent.
