Superintendent Chad Conklin told trustees at the Nov. 11 meeting that the district's recent bond proposal passed and thanked administrators and staff for their work on the campaign. Conklin also offered condolences to the family of Marshawn Kneeland and noted the district's crisis-response efforts.
Matt Hickson, who presented the finance report, said the district has an extended timeline for Section 31aa funding (through Nov. 30) but that legislative language and potential litigation leave the funding uncertain. Hickson outlined a bond issuance plan calling for Series 1 in 2026, Series 3 in 2028 and Series 4 in 2030, with project work (roofs, buses and technology) beginning in summer 2027. He flagged potential credit-rating and interest-rate considerations tied to timing and market conditions.
Conklin confirmed that free breakfast and lunch will continue for all students through SNAP and related programs. He also reported progress on reducing chronic absenteeism and said the district has received state recognition for improvement. The board did not take a separate bond-related vote at this meeting; the bond's passage referenced in the superintendent's remarks appears to reflect a previously completed public measure.
