The Town of Westbrook Coastal Resiliency Implementation Committee approved a revised engineering contract for the Old Mail Trail project at its May 12 meeting, increasing the contract amount to $19,900. The scope was expanded by approximately 400 linear feet after a water company project in the area revealed bell pipes in disrepair.
Kevin Wynne moved to approve the revised contract; Ron Botelho seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The motion followed a presentation of the revised scope and cost change, from $17,900 to $19,900.
The committee also confirmed that the minutes from the April 14, 2026 meeting were approved earlier in the session (a separate motion that passed unanimously). Committee members were told that larger consultant contracts with Weston & Sampson and RLW have been reviewed by the Town Attorney and will be structured with individual task orders to give the committee clearer control over specific work items.
The committee adjourned at 2:56 p.m. and set its next meeting for Tuesday, June 9, 2026. The approved Old Mail Trail contract revision is expected to proceed under the town’s task-order approach to consultant work.
