Residents ask about broadband and 4-H gym use; commissioners to follow up

During public comments and New Business on March 27, Heard County residents and commissioners discussed a broadband study and requests to use the 4-H Extension Office gymnasium.
Resident Mary Israel asked for a status update on a broadband study discussed the previous year. Commissioner Sandi Allen responded that the county did not receive the grant for the study and intends to reapply.
Separately, Commissioner Jacob Cammon raised a request from senior citizens to hold monthly dances at the 4-H Extension Office gymnasium. Chairman Lee Boone said a prior group had problems when a band member left lights and the air conditioning on and said he would not oppose rentals provided 4-H Extension Agent Dinah Rowe would not have to manage the issue. Commissioner Cammon said he would follow up with the senior group to address concerns.
No formal action was taken at the meeting beyond direction for commissioners and staff to follow up with the interested residents and the 4-H agent.
