At its March 27 meeting the Heard County Board of Commissioners approved several administrative actions.
Chairman Lee Boone recommended renewing the county audit contract with Kim Kimmel at the same fee of $22,500 for 2014; the board approved on motion (Hooks), second (Allen).
County Attorney Jerry Ann Conner reviewed a revision to the Heard County Government Substance Abuse Policy that adds post-accident testing after hours and recommended adoption; the board approved the update on motion (Hooks), second (Caldwell).
Rusty Clark, owner of Russom Trucking, requested temporarily leasing the county’s old bus barn (about 3,500 square feet) while pursuing a contract to recondition automotive parts for Franklin Aluminum. The board agreed to a month-to-month lease at $800 per month and directed County Attorney Conner to draft the lease agreement (motion Crook, second Allen).
The board also appointed Chad Wood to the Heard County Planning Commission to fill the seat of Brandon Hannah (term expired Feb. 14, 2014); the appointment passed on motion (Hooks), second (Allen).
All items were approved unanimously as recorded in the minutes. The minutes do not record additional contract terms for the bus-barn lease beyond the monthly rate or specific implementation timelines for the policy update and audit contract.
